Saturdays, Year 3, Week 7, New Year's Day
Happy New Year, to one and all! I found a perfect quote for the start of a new year: "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." From Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Doctor Seuss! Most people make resolutions to bring in a new year, but not me...I just keep trying to live each day to the fullest and keep myself and those around me happy! I have learned through years of living that you can never truly make another person happy...they must earn their happiness themselves...but by being nice to them, you provide the tools they need to achieve their own happiness! Also, it's wise to realize that not all happiness is cut from the same cloth...just because you like gardening, someone else might hate it. That's why happiness is such a personal thing, we each have our own definition of it. Some women love diamonds, I love dirt...go figure!
Since the high temperature on this day is around 12 degrees and the icy snow is wearing itself out blowing around in circles, I have to settle for watering my houseplants and dreaming over seed catalogs. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon!
I made us a nice dinner to start the new year, breaded pork chops and spaghetti...making sure to cook enough so I don't have to cook until Monday...got to plan ahead! Poor miss kitty has about worn herself out watching the birds at the feeder through the window...she was outdoors for about 30 seconds, she insisted, then happily came in when I opened the door. She has to learn that lesson every day this winter, it's not as warm as it looks through the window! She is napping next to me on her pillow while I post this. Both of us have cabin fever, I think the old man does too, I'm not sure though, either he's really watching that movie on tv or he's bozoed out again! Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference...like I said, happiness is such a personal thing.
Well, that's it for now, I want to post to my other blog today too, so make sure you enjoy every minute of this New Year's Day...as well as every day of the year! Stay warm.
