Thursdays, Year 3, Week 2, Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Again we get the chance to count the good things and people in our lives...the old man and I have finished with our feast of chicken paella and steamed artichokes, topped off with pumpkin pie with almond and walnut crust. I cooked everything but the artichokes yesterday, so today was a breeze. Delicious and then some.

What I am most thankful this year, not to place all my blessings of family and good health in the back of the list, is the wonderful new technology that the internet provides! Early this morning and throughout the day, I have been able to text, Facebook, and wish holiday blessing to everyone without ever having to go out into the windy, cold day. Can you even imagine having to communicate by smoke signal? Those were some tough people! Just to feed my wild birds and squirrels early this morning meant suiting up with almost every inch of my ample body encased in soft, cuddly and warm material. Even miss kitty showed no interest in going out of doors, choosing to watch out the window instead. Smart kitty, the wind chill was 35 below zero at 8:00 A.M.

I know it will get warmer later in the week, so in honor of the day, I gave all the birds and squirrels a little extra food today. They do so much to entertain us throughout the winter, they've earned it!

I feel a nap coming on, after all that yummy food, so enjoy the rest of today and be happy with what the day brings...may you all be as warm and contented as I and mine are!
